ClamWin Free Antivirus 0.9 is a set of tools GPL anti-virus for Microsoft Windows.
This antivirus is based in Clam Antivirus for UNIX. . This is a native version, which means it was built using Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005 and requires no emulation layer such as Cygwin. It uses Clam AV scanning engine.
This great antivirus provides a high detection rate for viruses and spyware also; you can schedule your scans in the Scanning Scheduler; it provides e-mail alerts notification using SMTP; it offers e-mail scanning for Microsoft Outlook to remove attachments infected by virus automatically. It’s integrated with the right click menu to Windows Explorer, so you can scan single files or folders. It does not include an on-access real time scanner; you need to manually perform scanning.
ClamWin performs automatic downloads to keep the virus database updated and notifies for any updates on the program.
Its GUI is easy and friendly to user. The installation process is easy to perform. There is documentation available on the software and its website. It comes with the open source code.
ClamWin runs on Microsoft Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003/Vista platforms.
